BioHazard's Site-Place!

Latest Update: March 17 2006 - Site Feature: Bug tracking system!

Aug 23rd 2007, 11:06 PM I'm dead!

Well, if you all haven't noticed, this place is pretty much dead. I just don't have the time or interest to keep this place up. I haven't used a Windows machine (anywhere) in over a year. I just have no desire to work on any of my old Windows software anymore.

I do still blog on Q's site as I'm more or less a member of Vectec Software. Anyway, go there.

If anyone didn't notice, I released the ZDL 3.0 source code on the Vectec update servers. I plan on releasing the KwikStrip and friends source sometime soon. Keep an eye out for that. I'll mention it on my blog.

Anyway, it's been good guys. Tell me when ZDoom switches to fModEX. Bio out...

Jun 7th 2007, 6:35 AM I'm alive! (really)

Hi everyone! I'm back from the dead!

I've been really busy lately as anyone who frequents the ZD community has undoubtedly noticed. I'm back into fiddling with my stuff now so I'll be around more often.
I'm still really tired of ZDoom so I won't really be active in those kind of topics, but I'll be happy to discuss software, networks and security stuff with people.

For anyone that's interested, I'm posting blog stuff at Q's blog site thing. So be sure to RSS subscribe to that.

Who knows, I may even update my website someday...

Oct 4th 2006, 8:05 PM Server upgrades!

A friend of mine gave me some of his old hardware so now I have a whole computer's worth of stuff to upgrade my server.

Old server:

New server:
Obvioulsy, this machine will be much better than what I have now.

I plan on continuing my SVN hosting service after I get the server back up. All 0 of you who use my SVN service have probably noticed it's down right now. I had to use the SVN server's case for this new server. It should be done in a few days.

This system will be based on Gentoo Linux 2006.1. I'm going to try to keep it as secure as possible. I might need some of you hacker types help me out with securing this machine. I'll keep a log in my blog area about the install procedure since people seem to be interested in people's install experiences with Gentoo. Plus it will show how I set up an SVN server.

Jul 2nd 2006, 6:41 AM Geez Bio! It's about flippin' time!

Look everybody! Look up in the corner! It's a box, it's a rectangle, it's a button, IT'S KWIKSTRIP!

>> Wheeeeeeeeee! <<

It's about time. There are a bazillion and a half new thingies and whatsits. Go have fun with it. It still works with B3 INIs and skins so go crazy.

UPDATE 8-17-06
Yay KS 2.5 B5 is out!
>> Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! <<

This one has the new skin format so beware of broken skins. Also, the config format has changed slightly, just go into the config menu, fix your options (the items are fine so no need to worry about those) and press OK to update.

As always, please report any problems in my shiny new bugs forum. Be sure to post the debug output in the new crash thingy.

Jun 15th 2006, 7:21 AM I guess I owe you guys an explanation...

It's been a while since anything has happened here so I thought I'd let you in on what's going on.

I don't have time to work on these projects anymore. I just got a new job so that has been sucking up a good bit of my time. It's not a lot, but I don't want to come home from a hard day of programming to sit down and do more programming. Only on a rare occurance will I open up VC at all.

Not only that, but now that I have made the switch to Linux, writing Win32 software has kind of become one of those situations where it's something of no benefit to me. Just like the software I write for work. If I can't run my own software, it's hard to justify writing it. Especially since I don't get any donations or anything to make spending the hours and hours of development time worth it. (a huge mega-awesome super thanks to the 3 of you who did donate!). I don't mean to sound selfish. I hope you understand.

What will happen to my software? Well, I'll finish KwikStrip 2.5 and then release all my software (even my testing stuff) into the open under the GPL. That way someone else can pick up things like ZDL and hopfully finish what I started. I will be glad to answer any questions regarding the source code because my style is known to be fairly um, hard to read. I will also probably re-organize most of the software on my site due to the fact that most of it is totally broken and crappy.

It seems I'm moving on, I hardly ever touch ZDoom anymore, in fact, it has been at least a month since I played it last, much less edit for it. I have a job, new responsibilities, a huge list of work-related tasks to deal with, among other things. Will I leave the community? Of course not. You guys are almost like family (as sad and nerdy as that sounds Confused ), I'll still moderate ZDF and I'll still hang around here, but my knowledge of ZDoom will eventually wane to the point of being trivial. I'll still try to help when I can, but I'm going another direction. Maybe if the planets align and pigs start flying, I might write ZD tools under Linux, but don't hold your breath. I give you my word though: This is not the last you will hear from me.

Will bio.drd stay around? I don't know, hopefully I'm important enough to the community that Grubber won't delete me just because I put doom and my software on the very-very back burner. I'll try to keep updates coming, but they will probably be an occasional blog update or a random blurb. I'll do my best. I'll still be active on the rest of DRD, so I'm not going anywhere where you won't see me.

I'm really sorry to have to say this, but all good things come to an end. (or at least slow down)
